Veil of Roses by Laura Fitzgerald
I had finally finished reading this book (chick lit of course) that was referred to me from Barlina (Thank you yah Bar!). I can not put the book down after the 1st chapter..but due to babies..i had to =P I steal time reading it when, they're asleep or my during my lunch break at work. Back to the book, this book is a really good book...funny yet romantic...there's also heartache n hope.
It's about this girl name Tami...who is from Iran, was given a gift from her parents to come to America...and live with her sister who is married. During her stay in the states, she had taken an english class..and made many friends. But she had a mission during her stay here...which is 3 months. That is....to find herself a husband before her visa expires! So that she can stay for a better life. The thing is...her family wants her to marry an Iranian man who has an American Citizenship....
She's introduced to several Iranian men and actually had found one...but found herself falling in love with this guy name Ike...that she had met at a coffee shop on her walk from school. Whom is an American....works at Starbucks saving money to open his own coffee shop. As her stay is getting closer to an end...she is faced with tough choices...
What does she do??
It's very interesting...this book shows how it really is in the middle eastern countries (maybe not all...but most)and how she evolves as a person by being able to show her true feelings and the opportunity to speak freely, go anywhere unescorted, not having to use a hejab and have to be all covered up...from purchasing her first Victoria's Secret, drinking her first alchohol, mingling with another sex. Even falling in love...
So..after reading this book i take that the moral of it, is...don't take life for granted...when a good chance comes to you...take it (of course put a lot of thought into it first)! Appreciate what you have...cause others may have it worse than you..dreams do come true....never give up on hope, faith, love & destiny...You may not have or get what you want now...or be who you want to be with...But eventually, the path will cross....but in a different way ;-)
